Flexi-Menu Substitutions
Due to a manufacturing shortfall, we will occasionally be substituting menu items with options from our flexi-menu for the next couple of weeks. These substitutions ensure we can continue providing high-quality meals without disruption. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we navigate these temporary changes. Please reach out if you have any questions or require further information.
Behind the Scenes: How It’s Made
At the School Lunch Collective, our food is more than just a meal—it’s a commitment to nurturing the health and happiness of Aotearoa’s future.
Special Meals for Every Need
We understand that every child is unique, and their meals should be too. That’s why we provide a wide range of dietary and cultural options, including Halal, vegan, and allergen-friendly meals. Each option is thoughtfully prepared to maintain both flavour and inclusivity.
Behind the Scenes: How It’s Made
Ever wondered how we create meals that feed thousands of tamariki daily? Take a look behind the scenes with Brett and our talented kitchen team. Watch how fresh, seasonal ingredients come together to create meals packed with goodness and care.
Supporting Students with Diabetes
We understand the importance of accurate carbohydrate information for students managing diabetes. To assist with meal planning, we provide a full breakdown of the carbohydrate content per serving for all our menu items, including any temporary substitutions from our flexi-menu.

Are the Meals Halal?
At the School Lunch Collective, we strive to accommodate as many dietary preferences as possible. Our ‘Halal appropriate’ meals are made with Halal suitable ingredients, and they do not contain pork or pork containing ingredients.
Our team are very well trained, and we have very strict cleaning and wash down procedures between each meal production. However, the way the meals are handled and prepared in our production facility is not strictly Halal, so our production facility is not Halal Certified. Therefore, we class our meals as ‘Halal appropriate’.
We recommend individuals with halal requirements exercise personal discretion and assess their comfort levels before consuming our meals

Lunch Trays: Sustainable,
Safe, and Efficient
At the School Lunch Collective, we prioritise sustainability and food safety in every aspect of our service. That’s why we use aluminium trays to package and deliver lunches. These recyclable trays are not only environmentally friendly but also one of the safest ways to transport food. Their durable design reduces the need for excess packaging, helping us minimise waste.
Aluminium trays also allow us to efficiently heat and transport meals, saving energy and resources while ensuring every meal arrives fresh and delicious. With these trays, we can deliver nutritious meals to more tamariki across Aotearoa without compromising on quality or sustainability.
To make things easier for students and teachers, we’ve created a quick video guide to show how to safely open and enjoy meals from our aluminium trays.
